SheetChat

Chat with your spreadsheets

Upload an Excel workbook, view your data right in the browser, and ask questions in plain English. Every answer is grounded in your actual cells — and we map how your formulas connect. No sign-up, no subscription.

How it works

SheetChat reads your workbook, gives Claude read-only tools to query the real cells, and answers in plain language — never guessing at numbers. It also traces every formula to build a dependency graph of your sheet.

1

Upload

Drop in an Excel workbook (.xlsx or .xlsm). Your file is encrypted at rest, processed in memory, and deleted as soon as you finish — no account needed.

2

Ask in plain English

Totals, lookups, filters, “what drives this number?” Claude calls read-only tools (list sheets, read ranges, aggregate, evaluate formulas) so every answer cites the actual cells.

3

See the dependency graph

Pick any cell and we trace every cell that feeds into it — the cell itself is red, and its precedents fan out, getting bluer the further back in the chain they are.

The knowledge graph of a single cell

Pick any cell and SheetChat traces every cell that feeds into it. Below is the live graph for ModelA_Core!H27 in a real actuarial model, Sample Model.xlsx. The bright red node is that cell; the graph fans out to every precedent it depends on, each depth level a distinct, vibrant colour on the plasma scale (its near precedents blue-purple, the furthest ones yellow). Drag to explore, scroll to zoom, and hover any node to pop a flag with its formula.
